Background: The use of a conceptual model as the Betty Neuman’s during the nursing appointment with the patient aims to identify stressors, plan, and implement nursing care with the purpose of reestablishing the equilibrium of the patient. Objective: To reflect on the applicability of the Betty Neuman systems model in the provision of nursing care to the patient with a peripheral venous catheter (PVC) for the administration of intravenous therapy. Main topics in analysis: Applicability of the Neuman model to the patient with PVC. Conclusion: The Neuman model has applicability in the nursing appointment and the provision of nursing care to the patient with PVC. It is also worth noting the importance of identifying the stressors as they affect the safety of the patient.
