^lpt^aOs objectivos deste estudo são: (1) avaliar e comparar os valores de auto-estima nas diferentes fases da adolescência (inicial, intermédia e adolescência final) e (2) averiguar a existência de diferenças ao nível da auto-estima na adolescência comparativamente entre géneros, contextos sociais, intenção de ingressar no superior e a prática desportiva. Os instrumentos utilizados nesta investigação foram um Questionário Sócio-demográfico e a Escala de Auto-Apreciação Pessoal ou Auto-Estima (Ribeiro, 2003). Participaram no estudo 360 adolescentes com idades entre os 12 e os 17 anos. Os resultados indicam que os adolescentes que apresentam uma auto-estima mais elevada são os mais velhos, do género masculino, do contexto urbano, que frequentam o 11º ano e que praticam desporto.^len^aThe objectives of this study are: (1) evaluate and compare the values of self-esteem in the different stages of adolescence (early adolescence, middle adolescence and final adolescence) and (2) verifying the existence of differences in self-esteem of adolescents by gender, social context, intention of enter a higher education and sport practice. A sample of 360 adolescents between 12 and 17 years old was collected. The results suggest that the adolescents with higher self-esteem are older, male, from the urban context and attend the 11th grade and practiced sport.
