Menopause is the process related to the end of ovarian follicular activity, manifested by interruption of the menstrual cycle. The transition of the reproductive period to non-reproductive stage is characterized by psychological, somatic, vasomotor and urogenital symptoms. Depression, anxiety, stress, irritability are psychological problems that could be causes of reduction in quality of life. The physical activity (PA) has become one of the most important alternative to control the menopause symptoms, since the literature presents relevant studies about PA and menopause symptoms. The objective of this review was to determine the effect of PA on psychological symptoms during menopause. It was found that PA may promote reduction of anxiety, stress, and depressive symptoms and can improves quality of life. Therefore, menopausal women should engage in PA, behold promote these benefits related to health and psychological well-being.
