LOPES, Teresa; AFONSO, Rosa    RIBEIRO, Óscar. Impact of reminiscence interventions in elders with dementia: a literature review. []. , 15, 3, pp.597-611. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/14psd150304.

Despite the relevance of reminiscence intervention with older people, their impact on people with dementia lies understudied. This study aims to implement an integrated literature review on the main effects of reminiscence in people with dementia. Twenty eight articles met the inclusion criteria defined in the research databases MEDLINE, PsycInfo, CINAHL, LILACS and SciELO, being the last survey conducted on 30 January 2013.The results suggest an overall positive impact of reminiscence therapy in participants with dementia and their caregivers, particularly in dimensions: cognition, behavior, mood, depressive symptoms, well-being, quality of life, communication, functional ability and caregiver burden. However, highlight the lack of research methodologically consistent with extended samples, defined inclusion criteria and longitudinal designs that allow firm decisions about the effects of reminiscence in people with dementia that allows conclusions. This theme also lacks robust reviews of its effectiveness in dimensions as the identity and well-being and yet evidence of its impact as a complementary therapy to the pharmacological or non pharmacological treatment in cases of dementia.
