The objective of this work is to investigate the relationship between Body Image and Self-esteem in people with intestinal ostomy. The method is based on the quantitative, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional research. Collected in institution to support ostomizeds of Rio Grande do Norte state, with 93 participants, through the General Structured Questionnaire, Satisfaction Appearance Scale and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. We used descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation test. Participants have low satisfaction with their body image (M = 66.9), but maintained high levels of self-esteem (M = 34.8). With positive and moderate correlation (? = 0.426 / p <0.001) from application of Spearman correlation test. Conclusions: Dissatisfaction with body image is a problematic to being observed by professionals. Thus, it is recommended that instruments are incorporated into professional practice, but not restricted to calculation of scores, but to enrich the understanding of these subjects, stimulating a dialogical relationship.
