BELINI, Eduarda et al. Spirituality and self-esteem of elderly people living in a long-term institution. []. , 22, 1, pp.161-168.   30--2021. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/21psd220114.

Spirituality is the search for a meaning in life, self-esteem is the appreciation you fell for yourself. Both have been widely explored as a therapeutic tool in the last years. The present study aims to evaluate the spirituality and self-esteem of the elderly from a long-term institution and to verify the association between these variables. This is a cross-sectional, quantitative study with primary data collection and non-probabilistic sample. The evaluation of spirituality was performed by applying the Spiritual Welfare Scale and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, in 37 elderly residents of Condomínio do Idoso, Maringá-PR, in December 2018. All the elderly who participated in the study had a high score in all the variables studied: Religious Well-Being, Existencial Well-Being, Self-Esteem. Self-Esteem is influenced by the aspects that make up spirituality, and both are able to improve health.
