The present study aims to understand the coping strategies for loneliness used by elderly people during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a qualitative study. The reference for this study was a publication posted on May 5, 2020, on the official page of the Ministry of Health, on the social network Facebook: During the coronavirus pandemic, elderly people, especially those who suffer from conditions such as dementia, may be stressed, anxious, afraid and insomnia. This post got 92 thousand likes; 3,200 comments and 18,000 shares. In view of the comments analyzed, the category emerged: Loneliness in the elderly during the Pandemic of COVID-19 and the subcategory: Spirituality and Religiosity as Strategies for Coping with Loneliness. Religiosity and spirituality are important strategies for coping with diseases and loneliness, among other significant situations, which can contribute to reducing the quality of life of the elderly.
