HOLANDA, Emmanoel; MAGALHAES, Raphaella; LIMA, Flávio    WANDERLEY, Regina. Becoming a father to a preterm child: a systematic review. []. , 24, 2, pp.727-737.   31--2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240225.

The study aimed to carry out a systematic review of the literature on the following theme: paternity in the context of the child's prematurity. In this present study, the following Scopus, Scielo and PubMed databases were used, from which articles in Portuguese and English, using qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed methods, were filtered. Of these, 26 studies were included and, later, categorized into 3 thematic axes based on the similarity between them, namely: Father stress, (In) Satisfaction with the service, Father coping. Paternal stress was identified in most studies, representing the scientific interest in identifying predictors of psychological distress. (In)Satisfaction with the service was identified as a vulnerability factor to psychic and emotional dysfunction and it is clear that the father's coping is approached in the studies from the subjective aspects of the parents in the face of the premature situation of the baby. This study demonstrates a gap in Brazilian research on the current theme, highlighting the need for research that addresses paternity in the context of prematurity, so future investigations are recommended.
