BEZERRA, Kalyne et al. Videos about self-mutilation in adolescents: in the light of martin heidegger's phenomenology. []. , 24, 3, pp.918-928.   31--2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240311.

The objective of the study was to analyze, in the light of Martin Heidegger's framework, the content of videos posted on the YouTube® website referring to self-mutilation in adolescents. This is a qualitative study, data collection took place during the month of February 2022. The study sample consisted of 63 videos, which were transcribed in full and subjected to inductive thematic analysis, in the light of Heidegger's framework. Three categories were identified: characterization of adolescents and self-mutilation, motives and sensations brought about by self-mutilation in adolescents. Adolescents are mostly female, using the method of cutting. Among the reasons, bullying stands out, and as for the sensations, the adolescents reported replacing emotional pain with physical pain. The understanding of self-mutilation by the different social actors who share existence with adolescents is essential for reducing pain and harmony between Dasein and the world.
