^lpt^aMuitos casos materiais que configuram as fronteiras entre a União Europeia e a Áfricamerecem ser analisados. Apresentarei algumas considerações teóricas sobre as cercas queestão sendo construídas nos limites territoriais dos enclaves de Ceuta e Melilla, separandoo continente europeu do território marroquino, e consequentemente, africano. Barreirasque delimitam a separação entre Estados-nação têm vindo a multiplicar-se em todos oscontinentes. Apesar da crescente liberalização do comércio e do incremento de discursospolíticos que incentivam a liberdade de circulação, os países desenvolvidos também participam neste movimento de proliferação de barreiras que filtram o movimento de actoressociais. Encaixo a construção de barreiras nestes enclaves na constelação de aparelhos desegurança que caracterizam a nossa modernidade tardia¹.^len^aThere are many material cases that shape the frontiers between E.U. and Africa thatdeserve attention. I will consider some theoretical approaches to the fences that are beingbuilt in the territorial boundaries between Ceuta and Melilla’s enclaves, distancing theEuropean continent from the Moroccan territory, and thus, from Africa. This tendency toseparate nation-states with walls can be observed in every continent. Despite commercialliberalization and an increasing flow of political speeches that appeal to the freedom ofcirculation, developed countries are also engaged in this movement of barrier proliferationthat checks and controls the circulation of social agents. To better understand the conceptsunderlying these fences, I seek to insert them in the constellation of security apparatusthat shape our late modernity.
