FONSECA JR., Gelson. Brazilian foreign policy: patterns and discontinuities in the republican period. []. , 29, pp.15-32. ISSN 1645-9199.

There is a reasonable consensus among historians that continuity is one of the characterizing trends of Brazilian foreign policy. In this way, this article analyses Brazilian foreign policy starting from an understanding of the concept of continuity, proceeding then with the presentation of some of the scenarios of Brazilian diplomatic action since the Republic, including South America, the United States of America, multilateralism, as well as relations with Europe and Africa.

: Brazilian foreign policy; South America; United States of America; multilateralism.
