^lpt^aA democratização da Polónia comunista começou com o aparecimento do Solidariedade em 1980. A década seguinte testemunhou uma luta pacífica do Solidariedade pelo direito de representação. O desejo de Gorbachev para pôr fim à Guerra Fria foi crucial, mas a sua atitude para com os países da Europa de Leste definia-se pela não ingerência. Um dos fatores decisivos foi a política de «autolimitação» do Solidariedade. O objetivo não era derrubar o sistema mas liberalizá-lo. O modelo polaco de democratização gradual serve como modelo para outros países no Bloco Soviético.^len^aThe movement for democracy in communist Poland became widespread with the appearance of Solidarity in 1980. The next decade in Poland witnessed Solidarity’s peaceful fight for the right to representation. The Mikhail Gorbachev‘s will to end the Cold War was crucial, but his attitude to Eastern European countries can be described as the non-interference rule. One of the decisive factors was the “self-limiting” policy of the Solidarity. The aim was not to overthrow the system, but to liberalize it. The Polish model of a gradual evolutionary democratization serves as a model for other countries in the Soviet Bloc.
