^lpt^aO presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a problemática da independência do Sudão do Sul, partindo de uma análise teórica sobre a imposição das fronteiras na região. O Sudão do Sul se tornou um país independente em 9 de julho de 2011, após uma votação nacional em prol da secessão do país. Todavia, algumas questões políticas e econômicas ainda permanecem sem solução desde sua independência, especialmente no que se refere à contestação da região de Abyei. Nesse sentido, a ênfase recai sobre a avaliação das relações de poder e as consequências dessa dinâmica para o povo sudanês, no quadro das teorias pós-modernistas.^len^aThis article aims to analyze the issue of the independence of South Sudan, starting with a theoretical analysis on the imposition of borders in the region. Southern Sudan became an independent country on July 9th 2011, after a nationwide vote in favor of country secession, however, some political and economic problems still remain unresolved since their independence, especially with regard to the defense of Abyei region. Thus, the emphasis is on the evaluation of power relations and the consequences of this dynamic for the Sudanese people, with the framework of the postmodernist theories.
