CADETE, Joaquim. The implications of Rawl's theory on economic thinking: Phelp's commentaries and the Arrow's criticism. []. , 43, pp.85-95. ISSN 1645-9199.

This article aims to discuss the main de Rawls implications to economic theory, especially on the fiscal front, coming from the formulation presented by Rawls in his well-known piece Theory of Justice. In order to achieve this goal, description of the mandate awarded to background institutions for distributive justice is presented, including the Phelps contribution, and also an analysis of the main constrains derived from the moral obligation to inter-generation justice. Finally, the objections presented by Arrow regarding Rawls formulation are described, in particular regarding the implementation of the maximin criterion, despite recognizing the important contribution done by this author to the debate surrounding the guiding principles of public policies.
