The 1st of July of 2017 marks the 15th anniversary since the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) entered into force. Over these years many were the achievements registered by an ICC motivated by global expectation. Nevertheless, the Court faced reality and was not able to overcome the obstacles imposed by international order. In the present article it is suggested an analytical reflection on the reasons behind the establishment of the ICC, its achievements and the weaknesses of international justice over the last 15 years as well as the elements that can compromise the future of the Hague-based Court.
