MONTEIRO, Bruna Montenegro; OLIVEIRA, Antônio Anderson Ramos de    NETO, Prodamy Pacheco. The use of the double product as a subjective marker of resistance exercise exertion for hypertensive patients. []. , 14, 1, pp.87-90. ISSN 1646-107X.

Double-product response during resistance exercise are an important issue related to the safety, especially among hypertense individuals. The aim of the present study was to investigate double-product during and post- two resistance exercises eliciting the same body segments. Fifteen volunteers aged between 55 and 65 years participated in the experiment. Blood pressure was assessed prior and post-exercise while heart rate was continually measured during and post-exercise. All hemodynamic variables showed higher mean values in the leg press exercise, compared with the leg extension exercise. It was concluded that in resistance exercise with larger muscle groups, possible elevations of hemodynamics must be monitored, to avoid any coronary risk.
