FERREIRA, Paula Daianny Alves Araújo et al. Characterization of food behavior and nutritional status of adults. []. , 14, 1, pp.252-258. ISSN 1646-107X.

Food behavior is conceptualized from the reactions to food, involving all actions to the act of feeding (with whom to eat, where to eat, what to eat and how to eat), which are influenced by emotional, social and environmental factors. Therefore, the objective of this study was to characterize the eating behavior and nutritional status of adult teachers at a University Center. A quantitative and descriptive cross-sectional study carried out in the city of Fortaleza, State of Ceará, in a University Center with 50 teachers in the period of April 2017. The sample was randomly selected for convenience. The restriction feeding behavior was the one that obtained the highest score in the female sex, representing an average of 31.3 (± 8.0), whereas in the male sex, it was the behavior of external ingestion, representing an average of 30.9 (± 5 ,2). The women showed lower values of weight and BMI, besides lower risk for metabolic complications according to the average. The nutritional status of the female presented better conditions than the male sex, however it was not possible to affirm that a type of feeding behavior defined the nutritional status.
