ARCANJO, Giselle Notini et al. Prevalence of injuries in street runners in sports advisory services in the city of Fortaleza. []. , 14, 1, pp.382-386. ISSN 1646-107X.

The present study investigated the prevalence of injuries among recreational runners of both genders, involved in guided training (running clubs). Twenty volunteers aged above 20 years and involved in amateur running training and competition comprised the sample. This was a descriptive study using a questionnaire with 11 questions. It was observed that a relevant prevalence of injuries was present, especially in lower body muscle and joints; with knee joint as the most affected site. The results of the present study show that safer training conditions are warranted for amateur runners which target health related benefits. Coaches and professionals involved in guidance of amateur runners must identify possible overuse in their clients.
