NOBRE, Michelly Maria Alcântara et al. Analysis of the effect of myofascial release on the gain of acute flexibility in bodybuilders. []. , 14, 1, pp.405-408. ISSN 1646-107X.

Myofascial release (MR) is a therapy technique applied manually over the muscle, lowering muscle pain, replenishing fascia tissue composition, and increasing range of movement. The aim of the present study was to verify the influence of MR on the range of movement of shoulder and hip joints in clients from a fitness center. This was a descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative study. Participants were randomly selected and comprised 10 clients (5 males and 5 females) from a fitness center. All participants were experienced in resistance exercise. Females had better gain post- MR in the hip (increase > 7%), compared with shoulder range of motion (increase < 4%). Contrarily, males had better gain post- MR in the shoulder (increase 7 to 9%), compared with hip range of motion (increase 3 to 6%). It was concluded that MR is efficient in both males and females at the shoulder and hip joints, though acting with varied magnitudes.
