FIGUEIREDO, Marcelo; ALVAREZ, Denise; ROTENBERG, Lúcia    ADAMS, Ricardo Nunes. Precariousness and intensification of work in high-risk situations: the case of oil well drilling. []. , 18, 2, e19885.   30--2022. ISSN 1646-5237.  https://doi.org/10.4000/laboreal.19885.

In oil exploration and production, workers are exposed to a series of risks associated with conditions and work organization in this sector. Our aim is to analyze how such exposure tends to be potentiated due to the precariousness and intensification of the work in well drilling, a high-risk activity. The theoretical-methodological framework privileges the activity-centered ergonomics and the psychodynamics of work, in an ergological perspective, seeking to boost the relationship between the knowledge of science and practical experience. The main method used involves dialogic interviews with professionals of the largest multinationals of well drilling. The analysis of the exposed situations shows that, in the context of the most recent crises and restructurings in the oil industry, elements such as extrapolation of work hours, organizational pressures, and cost reductions can compromise health and safety, contributing to increase workers’ exposure to the multiple risk factors present.
