SANTOS, Renata Aparecida Felinto dos. Rapunzel: contemporary art as a cosmetic / aesthetic treatment from the performances of Juliana dos Santos and Priscila Rezende. []. , 8, 20, pp.20-29. ISSN 1647-6158.

This article reflects on the standard of white and western normative feminine beauty imposed on all women from the works of Juliana dos Santos and Priscila Rezende. The dialogue about the current model of beauty focuses on the questioning of representations of femininity and aesthetic harmony forged from the enormous value of straight hair. We also consider the decisive impact of advertising and cultural industry on black women's denial of self and their frizzy hair. Thus, the exclusionary hegemonic model unfolds as an activator of aprocess of continuous violence against these women with consequences in their social, professional, affective and sexual lives. The two artists treat hair in their performances and reverse the pain they present through artifice of altered texture and negation for a cosmetic / aesthetic treatment of acceptance and healing.
