This article aims to analyze some aspects of the series of drawings that are part of The Tragic Series - My Mother Dying, (1947), by Brazilian artist Flávio de Carvalho, (18991973). It is intended to reflect on the process, the expression and strength of the graphic language, as well as the function of the subtitles that are part of these images.
