From his experience in the coffee farms of São Paulo, Cândido Portinari portrays the work and life of the blacks in the coffee plantations and in the city. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analyze the representations of the blacks and mestizos in the works of Portinari, emphasizing its history, its culture, its beauty, its social situation and individuality. It is concluded that Portinari's paintings record the expressions of true Brazil, built with the sweat and blood of the blacks.
