^lpt^aA partir do texto de Freud e atendendo à génese estética do Uncanny, pretende-se propor uma reflexão sobre a sua viabilidade conceptual e prática no imaginário pictórico do pintor Michaël Borremans. As pinturas deste autor, focam-se essencialmente numa temática aliada ao ser humano, contendo sempre uma atmosfera surrealista, que cria de forma ilusória imagens de uma estranha familiaridade, cheias de melancolia e estranhos pressentimentos. Partindo da análise de várias pinturas, pretende-se pensar sobre a abordagem do autor em termos da retórica da imagem, e de que forma o uncanny se manifesta na frágil dicotomia entre aquilo que se percebe e aquilo que se concebe, na sugestão mas constante negação de uma legibilidade palpável, não apenas pela temática utilizada, mas, essencialmente, pela criação de narrativas ambivalentes que suscitam o sentimento de algo ameaçadoramente estranho.^len^aFrom the text of Freud and taking into account the aesthetic genesis of the Uncanny concept, it is proposed a reflection on its conceptual and practical viability inside the pictorial work of the painter Michaël Borremans. The paintings of this author focus essentially on a thematic allied to the human being, but always containing a surrealist atmosphere, which illusively creates images of a strange familiarity, full of melancholy and strange forebodings. Starting from the analysis of several paintings, it is intended to think about the author's approach in terms of the rhetoric of the image, and how the uncanny manifests itself in the fragile dichotomy between what is perceived and what is conceived, in the suggestion but constant negation of a palpable readability, not only by the theme used, but, essentially, by the creation of ambivalent narratives that arouse the feeling of something threateningly strange.
