Este artigo aborda o percurso artístico de Roberto Evangelista, pontuando as relações estabelecidas entre arte, ecologia e transcendência, ao enfatizar a importância de suas proposições para o cenário artístico brasileiro, com atenção à perspectiva que este dá para a destruição da Amazônia e dos povos da floresta, sendo um dos precursores desta discussão na região, questões que vem à tona desde suas primeiras obras e que tornam-se mais que emergentes nos dias atuais. Destacamos ainda a obra Mater Dolorosa - In memoriam II - da criação e sobrevivência das formas, bem como a recepção crítica de sua produção e sua reverberação.

This article discusses the artistic journey of Roberto Evangelista, pointing to the relations established between art, ecology and transcendence, focusing on the importance of his propositions to the Brazilian artistic scene, highlighting the approach that this gives to the destruction of the Amazon and the peoples of the forest, being one of the forerunners of this discussion in the region, issues that have surfaced since its first works and that become more than emerging in the present day. We will also emphasize the work Mater Dolorosa - In Memoriam II - of the creation and the survival of forms, as well as the critical reception of its production.
