This article will address the social relations of babies through playing, in the sense of pointing indicators for teaching in childhood education with very young children. The theoretical and methodological framework lies in the dialogue between the areas of Pedagogy and Sociology of Childhood. Based on an investigation of the social action of babies in the nursery, which had as its central concern to get to know the babies and their actions in order to think about pedagogical practice with very young children. This is an ethnographic study with a group of babies and professionals who worked with them in a daycare center in Braga. In order to understand the structuring of social relations and actions by babies, participant observations were developed, with records in a field diary and video, allowing for a very fruitful approach to everyday experiences of children.
