Objetivo:
Verificar a associação entre felicidade subjetiva e percepção de saúde e qualidade de vida (QV) de estudantes de medicina no Brasil.
Método:
Estudo transversal com amostragem intencional. Participaram da pesquisa 362 estudantes entre o 1.º período e 4.º ano (equivalente ao 8.º período) do curso de medicina da Faculdade de Medicina de Itajubá (FMIT), Brasil. Foi utilizado um questionário de Caracterização Sociodemográfico e de Saúde, Escala subjetiva de Felicidade de Lyubomirsk and Lepper e o WHOQOL-bref para avaliar a QV.
Resultados:
Os resultados mostram que melhor percepção de felicidade foi associada a melhor satisfação com a saúde e QV dos estudantes de medicina.
Conclusões:
O presente estudo abordou uma interessante lacuna entre a relação da felicidade subjetiva e satisfação com a saúde e QV de estudantes de medicina brasileiros. Conclui-se que os maiores níveis de felicidade dos participantes estão associados a melhor satisfação com a saúde e melhor percepção nos quatro domínios de QV do WHOQOL-bref.
Objective:
To verify the association between subjective happiness and health satisfaction and the quality of life of medical students in Brazil.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study with intentional sampling. A total of 362 students between the 1st and 4th year (equivalent to the 8th period) of the medical school at the Faculty of Medicine of Itajubá (FMIT), Brazil, participated in the study. A Sociodemographic and Health Characterization Questionnaire, the Lyubomirsk and Lepper Subjective Happiness Scale, and the WHOQOL-bref were used to assess the quality of life.
Results:
Our results show that a better perception of happiness was associated with better health satisfaction and quality of life among medical students.
Conclusions:
The present study addressed an interesting gap in the relationship between subjective happiness and health satisfaction, and QOL of Brazilian medical students. It is concluded that the participants' higher happiness levels are associated with better health satisfaction and better perception in the four QOL domains of the WHOQOL-bref.
