^lpt^aO Quilotórax caracteriza-se pela acumulação de linfa no espaço pleural. Dado o elevado risco de desnutrição, associado às complicações hemodinâmicas e metabólicas do Quilotórax, a terapia nutricional deve ser iniciada o mais precocemente possível. Entre as intervenções nutricionais contempladas no tratamento estão a nutrição oral convencional com restrição lipídica ou a instituição de nutrição artificial. Independentemente do tipo de suporte nutricional, é da maior importância a avaliação regular do estado nutricional, através da monitorização de parâmetros antropométricos e doseamentos analíticos, de forma a prevenir deficiências. Face à inexistência de recomendações para o tratamento nutricional no Quilotórax, este deve ser instituído de acordo com as características individuais e clínicas do doente.^len^aChylothorax is an accumulation of lymph in the pleural space. Given the high risk of undernutrition, correlated to the hemodynamic and metabolic complications of Chylothorax, the nutritional therapy should be started as soon as possible. Among the possible nutritional interventions are a low fat oral diet or the institution of artificial nutrition. Regardless the type of nutritional support, is essential a regular monitoring of the nutritional status, through the patient’s anthropometric parameters and analytical analysis for screening and prevention of deficiencies. Considering that there are no evidence-based guidelines for the nutritional management of chylothorax, the best therapeutic option should be implemented in accordance with patient’s individual and clinical characteristics.
