MACIEL, Wellington. Social and Symbolic Borders in the Liminal Public Space: A Case Study. []. , 114, pp.47-68. ISSN 2182-7435.  https://doi.org/10.4000/rccs.6766.

This article discusses the emergence of what might be called the liminal public space and the nature of the inequalities that are structured according to the topographic conditions that give it substance. I seek to point out the specificity of the markings and of the social and symbolic boundaries, taking the Praia do Futuro in Fortaleza (Ceará, Brazil), as a typical case. It is argued that the character of the urban space and the social practices that individualize it inside a city are factors that cannot be overlooked when analyzing the new forms of inequality in contemporary Brazil. The particularity of this work is to contribute to the debate on the relationship between the urban space and symbolic appropriations associated with seaside leisure.

: Beaches; leisure; Praia do Futuro; right to public space; social and symbolic boundaries.
