FERREIRA, Sílvia. Claude Laprade: um escultor provençal na Lisboa de SetecentosLaprade: A Provencal sculptor in the eighteenth century Lisbon. []. , ser2, 3, pp.127-147. ISSN 2183-3176.

Claude Laprade (c.1675- 1738), a Provencal sculptor, earned his place in the Portuguese history of art with the execution of the stone tomb of the bishop D. Manuel de Moura Manuel. Located in the chapel of Vista Alegre in Ílhavo, the monument conveys the Roman Baroque aesthetic language, witnessing the artistic influences of its author. Despite being a sculptor unveiled since the 50s of the twentieth century, when the researcher Ayres de Carvalho rescued his work from oblivion, Claude Laprade is still mainly known as the author of the Tomb of Vista Alegre´s chapel. However, his multifaceted work, between which we can include projects and execution of altarpieces and sculptural work in wood and stone, never deserved an exegetical overview. Based on studies of those who preceded us and unpublished documentation recently referenced in Portuguese archives (ANTT and AML) we intend with this paper a global vision of his work.
