COUTINHO, Maria João Pereira. Architecture and supremacy: analogies between decoration of portals and arches in the context of the Habsburgs and Braganza festivities. []. , ser2, 7, pp.19-56. ISSN 2183-2176.

This study focuses on the relationship between the architectural portal in their civil and religious dimensions, this last element least considered by Portuguese historiography, and the ephemeral triumphal arches, erected under festivities of Filipino and Brigantino periods in Lisbon, extensively studied in recent decades. The similarities between types of Mediterranean portal frames (who arrived in Portugal through various ways), the ephemeral arcing and civil and religious architecture examples, help to establish a wide area of artistic contamination produced in context of the Modern Age, as well as recognize possible transfer processes of archetypes. Situations such as the contamination of European festivals solutions, whose input is processed through the coming of foreigners, the movement of Portuguese artists to other countries, such as the integration of architectural vocabulary disclosed by the Treaties of Art, the valuation of various areas of the city (i.e. squares and streets), as well as many of the same equipment (i.e. doors and arches), are focused throughout this essay.
