SOUZA, Sonia M. C. et al. Evaluation of Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Properties of Martensitic 15 % Chromium Stainless Steel in H2S and CO2 Environment. []. , 29, 4, pp.120-125. ISSN 0870-1164.

The microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of a 15 % chromium martensitic stainless steel have been investigated. Material evaluation was carried out on samples subjected to previous conditions, air and in corrosive environment (H2S e CO2) at room temperature and 190 ºC, by means of optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), hardness, uniform and local (pitting and crevice) corrosion tests and tensile tests under slow strain rate. The results show that material has ductile fracture, a lack of pits or cracks even in the most aggressive conditions, and mechanical properties in aggressive environment close to the same properties achieved in air, which makes suitable to be applied in oil or gas line.
