SOARES, Susana    NUNES, Clarisse. Contribution of storytelling in promoting the social development of a child with profound intellectual multiple disabilities. []. , 12, 1, pp.97-130.   29--2022. ISSN 2182-1372.  https://doi.org/10.25757/invep.v12i1.311.

Children with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities (PIMD) require educational responses that create opportunities to participate in activities with their peers, broaden social relationships and increase knowledge about the world around them. This qualitative study sought to understand how the telling of different types of stories (author stories, social stories, multi-sensory stories), in different contexts, influences the involvement and participation of a child with PIMD in the storytelling activity, as well as their social development. A child with PIMD and his/her kindergarten peers participated in the study. Data collection was carried out through observation, social network analysis and documentary research. The results show that the child with PIMD participated in a very positive way in the storytelling activity, showing different behaviors towards the different types of stories told. The activity brought important gains for all children.
