This article briefly analyses, on one hand, the present international situation, namely in what concerns the United States of America, the People`s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. On the other hand, the role played by Portugal in International Relations, giving also particular attention to the role played by the Autonomous Region of the Azores and its importance in Portuguese Foreign Policy.
