ESTEVENS, João. Security on the move: how population dynamics contribute to national security and defence strategies. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2016, n.52, pp.83-99. ISSN 1645-9199.
Understanding the evolution of the concept of security in the light of globalization after the end of the Cold War allow us to understand how the dynamics of the population may be perceived as risks or threats to national and global security. With a comprehensive approach to the literature review we deepened the complex relationship between demography and security studies. Thus, this article aims to approach, from a comparative perspective, the presence of demography in the latest security and defence strategies of Slovakia, Spain, Ireland and Portugal. The results confirmed that demography matters to security though it changes across countries for different reasons.
