PATO, Rosa Ana. Culture on both sides of the Atlantic: A look at Portuguese-Brazilian cultural relations between 1945 and 1953. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2020, n.66, pp.127-140. ISSN 1645-9199. https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2020.66a08.
This article examines Luso-Brazilian cultural relations between the end of World War II in 1945 and the Treaty of Friendship and Consultation signed between Portugal and Brazil in 1953. Taking advantage of the bases launched during the validity of the Brazilian state-novitiate regime, namely the Cultural Agreement of 1941, cultural relations between Portugal and Brazil ranged in several dimensions. The signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Consultation in 1953, which enshrines the Portuguese-Brazilian community, was the high point in relations between Portugal and Brazil during the analyzed period. In general, the analysis reveals that Portuguese-Brazilian cultural relations in the immediate post-Second World War had varying degrees of intensity, corresponding to the importance given to them by the governments of Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro.
