Abstract

GIRALDES, Maria do Rosário. Private health expenditure in the family: regional social and economic inequalities in Portugal, 1994-1995/2000. Anál. Social [online]. 2005, n.174, pp.137-156. ISSN 0003-2573.

Average annual family health expenditure increased by around 16% in the period between the official family surveys of 1994/95 and 2000. The highest figures in the 2000 survey were recorded in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, and the lowest in the Alentejo region. The increases reflect the social and economic categories of factory workers, businessmen and farm workers, the unemployed and pensioners.

Keywords : Família; Saúde; Desigualdades sociais.
