This article seeks to clarify and discuss three fundamental concepts in the human sciences - equality, inequality and difference - with a view to studying their relationships to each other and the historic character of each of these terms. The starting point is a semiotic analysis of the three ideas. The article refers to a work which the writer has recently published.
