Abstract

DARBY, Paul. African football labour migration to Portugal: colonial and neo-colonial resource. Anál. Social [online]. 2006, n.179, pp.417-433. ISSN 0003-2573.

This article provides an overview of the football migration patterns between Africa and Portugal. It assesses the extent to which Portuguese football has exploited the football resources of its former African colonies and examines the impact that this trend has had on African football at both the local and national level. The article draws on economic models of globalisation to inform the empirical evidence presented.

Keywords : Futebol; Portugal; futebolistas; África; futebolistas imigrantes.
