Abstract

DOMINGUES, José Maurício. Confucianism and china. Anál. Social [online]. 2010, n.195, pp.355-365. ISSN 0003-2573.

Confucianism is returning to the fore in China today in intellectual terms, and has been adopted by the Chinese government as an element of legitimization. The works of Daniel Bell allow for a closer view of the potentialities and limits of this “new confucianism”, which must, however, be placed into the more general process of contemporary Chinese culture, and of the developments of modernity as a global civilization.

Keywords : confucianism; Daniel Bell; China; modernity.
