Abstract

RODRIGUES, Ana Duarte. Elites, strategies and specificities of garden sculpture commission in Portugal (1670-1800). Anál. Social [online]. 2013, n.207, pp.368-396. ISSN 0003-2573.

This article addresses the question of garden sculpture commission for villas and palaces in Portugal between 1670 and 1800. Its actualization towards international models has conducted my research beyond the circumstances and specificities around the commission made by the different social groups and in the various space and time context. In this article I present the results of the inquiry directed to the patrons seeking to see to which social groups they belonged to, theirs strategies, and how they have changed during that period of time.

Keywords : commission; patrons; elites; garden sculpture.
