Abstract

FESCH, Gil. Social and aesthetic theory: on interdisciplinarity.. Anál. Social [online]. 2017, n.223, pp.432-443. ISSN 0003-2573.

This essay addresses the relationship between social and aesthetic theory, starting from the evolution of the dialogue between the social sciences and art. If the intense theoretical and methodological reconfiguration of the last decades is now widely recognized, emphasizing the sociocultural origin of art and linking it to human behavior, some authors have also denounced the effects of a progressive sub-disciplinary entrenchment resulting from the process of autonomization of theoretical projects. It is with this background that we propose to reflect on important points of contact and theoretical opportunities.

Keywords : social theory; aesthetics; interdisciplinarity; sociology.
