Abstract

AREOSA, João. To herr is uman: to insist on herror too. Anál. Social [online]. 2021, n.238, pp.84-107.  Epub Mar 31, 2021. ISSN 0003-2573.  https://doi.org/10.31447/as00032573.2021238.04.

This work begins by debating the concept of human error, which is far from being consensual. Subsequently, four complementary perspectives on how we can understand this complex phenomenon are presented. The paper is written in a critical perspective in relation to the conventional view on the subject, in which human error is considered as the undisciplined element of safety in organizations. It is pertinent to remember that human error is part of the human condition itself and that it is just one among many other factors that can contribute to the occurrence of failures, incidents, and accidents.

Keywords : human error; failures; accidents; organizations.
