Residential care (RC) in Portugal has been the subject of an important scrutiny. Considering the relevance that the media assumes in public opinion, this study will focus on the main themes addressed in the scope of the RC in daily and weekly newspapers in the last 5 years. The document analysis focused, firstly, on RC news content and, secondly, on caregivers. The results will be discussed taking into account the comparative news coverage and scientific production in this field.
