Abstract

In this paper, we apply an environmental Quality index for Argentina´s Pampas region at the department scale -219 spatial units- systematizing our field work and using the latest available information. The index consists of a combination of 23 indicators which include: a) nature-based recreational resources, b) socially constructed resources, and c) environmental problems. Its application shows a high degree of diversity in the study area thus emphasizing territorial contrasts present in a country located in Latin America. The proper sizing of the environmental inequity provides useful elements for policy intervention that can mitigate socio-territorial asymmetries, which significantly affect the living conditions of the population
