A good knowledge of the development of themes and research methods, used in geography since the second World War, would facilitate the effective development of our science. This implies the transmission of this kind of knowledge between generations. We present several examples of recent studies pertaining to Portuguese and French schools of geography and of some of the research topics they have developed
