Abstract

TABOADELA, Obdulia; MARIL, María  and  LAMELA, Carmen. Rural superdiversity: Odemira, Alentejo, a case study. Finisterra [online]. 2018, n.107, pp.87-105. ISSN 0430-5027.  https://doi.org/10.18055/Finis11935.

This article is about a case study on migration superdiversity in a rural setting: the Portuguese municipality of Odemira. The phenomenon is contextualized within post-crisis global migration trends to identify some of the main converging topics: lifestyle migration, nature or alternative tourism, and global agricultural enclaves. We bring forward the sociological relevance and possibilities of these rural melting pots.

Keywords : International migration; superdiversity; lifestyle migration; global agricultural enclaves; nature tourism; rural setting.
