Abstract

COSTA, Pablo. Temporary uses in pandemic times: drive-in as exploratory tool. Finisterra [online]. 2020, n.115, pp.145-151.  Epub Dec 31, 2020. ISSN 0430-5027.  https://doi.org/10.18055/finis20357.

At the present time of pandemic, some sectors of the economy have been reinvented using temporarily vacant spaces in cities, more precisely vacant lots. Its spatial characteristics allow both the social distance, required by health authorities, and experimentation, which is so necessary to rethink paradigms. However, many similar experiences took place during the first decades of the millennium, when the first wave of economic crises hit different parts of the world. This article aims to analyse the current movement of use of vacant lots as drive-ins and how the resolutions of urban planning in the face of previous temporary experiences can be applied at this moment.

Keywords : Temporary uses; vacant lots; drive-in; interim reuse.
