The article presents some results of the research on the positioning of prepositional phrases (PrepP) with temporal value in journalistic txts, based on the North American functionalist theory. We observed the relation between the topic continuity of the subject referent and the position of the prepositional phrases, as well as the discourse functions of these phrases.
