Abstract

Projected as the final conference in a Symposium on “Philosophy in the Academy”, this article addresses the subject of “Philosophy beyond Academy”. The objective is above all to show how philosophy transcends the usual academic references. Philosophy encompasses logic, ethics, epistemology, aesthetics, but it is mainly inhabited by wisdom: it is in accordance with existence. Therefore, philosophy is “a discursive practice holding life as its object, reason as its means and happiness as its end”. Thus, more than how to learn philosophy, it is important to learn how to philosophize.
